How can I get involved as an Individual?
There are hundreds of ways you can get involved - even if you can’t get to Canada! The Virtual Congress starts in 2007 – with a global pre-congress festival of action projects. Whether you are an individual, a school or a youth group of some kind, you will be ableto propose a project online and get your community involved in celebrating youth achievements!
- Young Activists: These are the young people who are doing projects – community improvements, youth-led business start-ups, social enterprises, peer-to-peer teaching, skills training etc. – that are making a real difference in their community, often at very low cost.
- Young Journalists: A key feature of all WYCs are the print, TV, Radio and IT journalists who report the events of the congress to delegates themselves, and to the wider world via the virtual congress.
- Young Teachers: teachers lay the foundations of a caring society and instil the values that will create a sustainable society. So we welcome young teachers whohave a vision of what schools could be like – and have examples of good practice to share with others;
- Young Artists: Peace Child started life getting Russians and Americans to perform a musical play together – so art, culture and entertainment have always been at the heart of our work. Artists who seek to communicate powerful messages about the sustainable development agenda will be most welcome at this Congress.
- Young Participants: You may be interested in all these areas – but not have evidence of actually doing any of them yet. No matter – write an application explaining your interests and your intentions, and you will be welcome to come along to learn from those who have already trodden the Youth-led development path.
